Florida Fun....

This past week we enjoyed a wonderful week in sunny Florida with Brent's parents. We were so glad to finally arrive on Sunday. Most of you are aware that we had two large back to back snowstorms. Needless to say it was a nightmare at the airports. Southwest cancelled our flight 2 times out of BWI... Sunday was the first we could get out. 24 hours before our flight out Sunday we enjoyed some fun in the snow and walking around downtown Lititz. Hard to believe 24 hours after sledding we were swimming! We had so much fun! Highlights for both kids... spending time with G&G Kreider, golf cart rides, swimming in 50 and 60 degree weather in a heated pool, and a day at Disney's Magic Kingdom. What a special time for Benjamin to show his sister around, and for Alissa to meet some princesses... "Cinderbrella" being her favorite. Like everything, all good things must come to an end. So it's back to reality! Thanks G&G Kreider for an awesome week! We miss you already!

Blizzard 2010

Front of our house

View from the kitchen looking out at our deck

Don't think we'll be getting our mail anytime soon!

Enjoying "snow cream" the kids and I made

Can you believe it... more snow!?! Do we live in Canada or PA?!? Yes, if you haven't heard we had a blizzard yesterday. I am not just using that term loosely either, it was a blizzard! I have not heard official totals (our satellite was out, no local channels), but our neighbors measured 22 inches. What's really crazy is that we just had a snowstorm Friday into Saturday and now this. Honestly I have no idea where we would go with anymore snow! I did actually get the mailbox opened... thanks to our snow blower and a shovel. I was wondering why do I want to clear the mailbox for bills?
The kids and I have been having fun sledding, having snowball battles, hot chocolate breaks, shoveling, and visiting with neighbors in the middle of the street. We sure do sleep good at night! Today we made snow cream... yummy! Looking forward to sharing it with Daddy tonight, who of course does not get snow days. He does however appreciate all the work the snow gives the business!

Here is the snow cream recipe we used...
2 quarts clean snow (really is there such a thing?)
1 cup milk (we had to add more, because the snow was so powdery)
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 T vanilla
Mix well and enjoy! We put leftovers in the freezer for later!
Enjoying the time with my kids and the beauty of the snow, but enough is enough now! :-)

Snowy Fun

Brent & Alissa

Benjamin

Nan on her skiis

This past Sunday after church we stopped over to see my parents. My mom had ankle surgery last Tuesday. After lunch the boys went out to ride snowmobile. Benjamin even drove a snowmobile by himself. Growing up way to fast!!! Once they had made some tracks Brent took Alissa for a spin. What a trip! She loved it! We don't have to worry about this past weekend's snow going away anytime soon.... we are under a winter storm warning until Wednesday night. The forecast is for 12-18 inches of snow and then high winds after. Makes me all the more excited for Florida! Our flight has now been changed so we are hoping to get out Thursday afternoon. Crossing our fingers!
