6 months!!!

Wow! It's hard to believe that 6 months ago today we met Alissa in China! How time flies by! These past 6 months have been ones filled with tears and much laughter. Tears for all that was left behind in China. Laughter for all the fun times and memories that have been made. Alissa went from knowing no English to calling us by our names, singing her abcs, counting, knowing her colors, and letting us know what is on her little mind. Her little personality is so sweet! She loves her big brother, mommy, daddy, grandparents, cousins (aunts & uncles too) , and her friends. She gets so excited on Sunday mornings to go to Sunday School. Where she will tell you she was nice and "no hit my friends" (that one is always nice to hear!) Some of her favorite things to do... gymnastics class, playing in her kitchen where there is always hot chocolate and coffee ready to serve, playing with her "didi" (baby doll), playing outside no matter the weather, and helping mommy in the kitchen. Once again on this day we are reminded how blessed we are to be a family of FOUR and how worth it the long wait was!!! Happy 6 months to all our other fellow Nanning travelers out there! We are thinking of you and your families on this day too!!!

Catching up...

So I have not been very faithful with my blog lately, I know! Shame on me! Thought I'd catch everyone up on what we've been doing lately. The month of February brought us:
-Me (Kristin) having my gallbladder removed
-Fun at Bounce U with friends
-One last snowman before the snow melted
-Some spring like days outside
-And last but not least a trip to FL

Two weeks after having my gallbladder removed we drove down to Sarasota, FL to visit Brent's parents at their new house. Our kids referred to it as the "Florida house". This was so Alissa wouldn't think when we say we are going to Grandpa and Grandma's house it entails a 16 hour drive! :-) Sunny warm weather and blue skies, just what the doctor ordered!
Alissa continues to amaze us! Brent just said this weekend she is really adjusting well. To see her hug and love on Benjamin just melts my heart. Whenever Brent hugs and gives me a kiss Alissa will go over to Benjamin hug him and say "my Benjamin". Too cute! She is learning her colors, likes to count, attempts to write her name with my help, and loves being outside any chance she gets! We can't wait for spring!
Benjamin is doing great in school! He enjoys his friends, playing his wii, and can't wait for baseball to start! He's one great kid!
So if you are reading this blog and are on Facebook, look me up! I confess that has been where I've been lately. I'm still planning on keeping the blog, I'm just a little sidetracked for the moment!

Freak Snowstorm... Or The Prayers Of A Child!?!

Last night after an open house we attended with Benjamin for school, we drove home in some snow. They we calling for a dusting. Benjamin prayed at bedtime for it to snow overnight, because he did not want to go to school today. Afterwards I said well he can pray, but it's not going to happen. We had turned the lights on (around 9:00pm) and the snow was done. Little did we know! Brent was doing some work late last night, and I the supportive wife was sleeping on the sofa. He woke me up after 11:30 to tell me I had to look out the window... I couldn't believe my eyes! It was a blizzard! Apparently there was some thunder snowstorm hanging over Lititz. And hang it did! Lititz woke up to 12 inches of snow. The crazy thing is 15 minutes from here in Manheim... no snow! There were only a few areas that even got this snow. So, Benjamin's prayers were answered, no school. Oh to have faith like a child! The kids have been playing in it all day! It's was so much fun to watch them finally have a snow to play in! So I ask you again... freak snowstorm or the answered prayers of a child?!?
