Birthday Party... Gymnastics Awards... 8 months!

On Sunday we enjoyed celebrating Benjamin's birthday with family. It was special to have Benjamin's grandparents and great-grandparents there to celebrate with him! Each year Benjamin picks a theme... this year it was racing. We had a racing cake along with ice cream and snacks. A fun afternoon!

On Tuesdays Alissa takes a gymnastics class. She loves this time. This week it was awards week and she received a medal. It was an extra special time because Daddy surprised her by coming to see the medal ceremony. Of course I got choked up... good grief! Oh well, there will be many more moments of that I am sure!

I forgot to mention that as well as Benjamin's birthday on the 16th it was also our 8 month anniversary since meeting Alissa. Wow! I'm still blown away at how fast time has gone by. 

Well, that's all for now. More pictures to come after our annual beach weekend with friends. Alissa is so excited to go to the "deach" with her friends.

Happy 10th Birthday Benjamin!

I can't believe I'm typing 10th Birthday! I don't know where these past 10 years have gone. I just know that they have flown by incredibly fast!!! This morning we started his day off with a baseball game (pic of him on 3rd getting ready to steal home and than closing on the pitcher's mound). Benjamin had a great game! He made a double play himself... catching a pop fly and then tagging  a runner out. What a play! Yes we are bragging a little bit, but we are just a little proud! :-) After the game we headed down to the Black Rock auction. It was a fun way to support Black Rock Retreat. Black Rock is where Benjamin attends a week of summer camp. Afterwards we headed home for Benjamin's birthday meal. He picked burgers on the grill along with a favorite pasta salad. Of course we had to sing Happy Birthday too... and some presents from his sister (He has been enjoying the new bike with gears we got him 2 weeks ago). Alissa couldn't wait to give Benjamin the big Sponge Bob card she picked out all by herself. She was so excited. Early to bed for little sister... a movie night for the rest of us. It was a special time for the 3 of us! Off to bed now... party time tomorrow! Tomorrow the grandparents and great-grandparents are coming over for cake and ice cream. Alissa is excited too for the party. She keeps saying "surprise"... even though it isn't. We're all excited to celebrate this time with Benjamin! More pics to come from the party. An Extra Special Day!

Today was such a special day! It was a day to celebrate the mom's in our lives, celebrate being a mom, and Alissa's dedication at church! We were blessed to have both sets of grandparents this morning at church to witness this important time in our lives as we made a promise to raise Alissa to know Jesus! An extra special surprise was our friends... the Hurst family showing up to show their support. 

Afterwards the grandparents came back to our home so we could honor our moms and celebrate Alissa's dedication with a brunch. We ended the meal with a delicious cinnamon roll cake... it said Jesus Loves Alissa. Yummy!

After the grandparents left I was able to to take a little nap while Alissa napped. Feeling so rested! It was a beautiful day so we decided to take a family bike ride. So much fun! Benjamin rode his new bike and Alissa got to try out the new tag-along bike. After some tears, screaming, and much convincing she loved it! 

So as I am finally updating this blog... I promise to try and update more often... my wonderful husband and kids are making me a meal fit for a queen! Crab cakes, shrimp, green beans, and dessert. Wow am I blessed! Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!
